Lead UX and Web Developer - Cambridge, MA

Job Description

At Propel Marketing we pride ourselves in providing an exceptional user experience. We are seeking an experienced designer, proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, unifying and implementing modern interfaces in collaboration with our existing design and development team. You will own the user experience for both internal and external customers, covering both desktop and mobile platforms.

You will be playing a key role in unifying the user experience across multiple applications and platforms, and will report to the Engineering Manager. You will collaborate with product owners and lead the design of new products. Existing product designs may be revamped, ensuring optimal user experience and consistent branding.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the user experience across major browsers on desktop and mobile platforms
  • Establish UI standards, create templates
  • Stay informed of modern UX technologies and techniques, integrating them into our platforms
  • Solicit feedback from internal and external customers
  • Collaborate closely with other departments to find elegant solutions to complex problems
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail
  • Uphold outstanding code quality and development standards
  • Put the customer’s needs first
  • Participate in project planning, estimate complexity and meet deliverables

Requirements

  • Expert in HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experienced with JavaScript libraries such as jQuery
  • Experienced with JavaScript frameworks such as Ember.js and Backbone.js
  • Experience with upgrading legacy systems to modern standards and design
  • Proficient in industry standard wire framing tool e.g. Adobe Suite, Balsamiq or similar
  • Foundation in visual design principles including color, font, layout, flow, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Posses the drive and skill to deliver and inspire high quality results in a fast paced environment
  • Understanding of the differences between desktop and mobile design
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience

Bonus Experience

  • Experience with object oriented backend languages such as Python, Ruby, PHP or Node.js
  • Experience in A/B Testing
  • Experience with Intro.js
  • Experience is test automation
  • Experience in iOS or Android development, particularly using hybrid methodologies such as Ionic or Cordova
